In a freakish story, a woman was arrested for driving kids around, not in booster seats or in the back seats, but in two pet kennels placed in the back of her auto.
During an interview with investigators, the two kids say Cheeks, their grandmother, told them to get in the kennels because there was not enough room in her vehicle. According to authorities, there was no air conditioning in the back of the auto where the kids sat, and the children told police they were hot inside the kennels. They said they had charged Cheeks with two counts of Child Endangerment. The attention grew so rabid that the Memphis Police Department issued a statement on Facebook saying they had been contacted by many people since the video went viral on social media. Cell phone video shows a girl getting out of a kennel from the back of an SUV.
Neighbors tells us Cheeks just bought two puppies, which is why the kennels are in the back of her truck.
