US President Donald Trump on Sunday tweeted a strongly-worded warning to his Iranian counterpart, Hassan Rouhani.

The kind of threat that Trump made on Twitter on Sunday could have attracted penalty from the social network for any regular person as Twitter's policy bars users from making threats of violence on its platform.

Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Commander Mohammad Bagheri also vowed to implement a "strong, unimaginable and regrettable" response from Tehran.

"The Trump doctrine when it comes to Iran was the Reagan doctrine when it came to the Soviets", Graham, R-S.C., said on Fox News on Monday night.

Bagheri said Iran had "never instigated war" and "wanted peace and stability in the region". And Iranians have heard them -albeit more civilized ones-for 40 yrs.

Iran has faced the threat of USA sanctions since Trump decided in May to withdraw the United States from a 2015 agreement between world powers and Iran over its disputed nuclear program.

Pompeo Assails Iranian Leaders As 'Hypocritical Holy Men'
In a televised speech , Hassan Rouhani told the American president: "Do not play with the lion's tail, you will regret it forever".

But some of Iran's neighbors who are USA allies clearly support putting pressure on Iran. The first round of U.S. sanctions on Iran goes into effect in August, followed by ones targeting Iran's oil exports in November.

Later Monday morning, national security adviser John Bolton said Trump told him that "if Iran does anything at all to the negative, they will pay a price like few countries have ever paid before".

United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo tweeted on Tuesday reminding European counties of the Iranian regime's terrorist plots across the world saying that they weren't immune to "Iran-backed terrorism". But the White House blamed Rouhani for inciting the war of words with his comment that "America must understand well that peace with Iran is the mother of all peace and war with Iran is the mother of all wars".

On May 8, President Trump withdrew the United States from the accord struck under his predecessor Barack Obama and pledged "the highest level of economic sanction" against Iran, calling it "the leading state sponsor of terror". "This especially goes for our allies in the Middle East and Europe, people who have themselves been terrorized by violent regime activity for decades", said Pompeo.

"We do find it quite odd that the administration is so passionate and loud about human rights in Iran but really not in other [countries]", he said.

Trump also highlighted to the veterans Tuesday part of last month's agreement with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to transfer home the remains of American soldiers killed in the North Korea War.
