Authorities are investigating a report that a missing Iowa college student might have been seen in northwest Missouri.
By Thursday afternoon search teams were back in the area, combing the nearby fields for any trace of the missing girl, according to Fox News.
Tibbetts, a 20-year-old from Brooklyn, Iowa, has been missing for two weeks.
The latest came Thursday, when police confirmed that a possible sighting of Ms Tibbetts at a Missouri truck stop turned out not to be her.
In an update on August 3, the Iowa Department of Public Safety wrote that "although Mollie has not been located, the investigation into her disappearance has not slowed".
When asked if authorities suspect that Tibbetts was abducted, Winker said, "We don't know where Mollie is at right now".
On Thursday, her family and Crime Stoppers of Central Iowa are holding a press conference to discuss the case.
US Spy Agencies Say North Korea Building New Missiles
Reports last week suggested that a separate North Korean site used to develop missile engines was dismantling its facilities. The same facility is known to have produced the Hwasong-15, the country's first missile capable of reaching the US.
Kevin Winker, investigative operations director for the Iowa Department of Public Safety, said Friday he knows the tight-lipped approach is frustrating for people who are eager to know what happened to 20-year-old Mollie Tibbetts.
"She's out there. We feel it".
"Let's keep at it. Let's go get her", said Rob Tibbetts, Mollie Tibbetts' father.
"It is our greatest hope that if someone has her, they will just release her", the emotional mother continued. "I don't know that I have the strength in me, and Mollie's lending me her strength".
Mollie Tibbetts' parents believe she is alive.
Investigators have been looking at various data, including social media and information from a Fitbit that Tibbetts is known to have used. Initially, they said she was wearing a black sports top - but now say the top was pink.
Jack has said that he believes Tibbetts would have had both her fitness tracker and cellphone when she went out for her jog.
"I can't tell you how much we appreciate you", he said.
