The defending champions once again will start the 2018 season on the top line of the Associated Press Top 25 - but the Big Ten has more teams at the top than any other conference.
As expected, Alabama will be No. 1 to begin the year in the preseason poll, which the AP released Monday. They recently were ranked 24th in the coaches poll.

The Crimson Tide has now been ranked No. 1 in the AP poll at least once in the last 11 seasons, the longest such streak in the history of the wire service's rankings. It was the tenth consecutive year in which the Seminoles have opened the season ranked in the AP poll. TCU is ranked No. 16, West Virginia is No. 17 and Texas is No. 23.
A host of Big Ten teams - five in all - cracked the top 15. Kansas State received 10 points (36th overall) and Iowa State eight points (37th). The second poll will be released ahead of Week 2. One huge factor for the team was a freshman running back named Jonathan Taylor, who took the entire conference by storm in year one.
Florida opened the season unranked for the first time since 2015. Earlier in the month, Alabama was ranked as the No. 1 team in the preseason Amway Coaches Poll, receiving 61 of the 65 possible first-place votes.
