The shooting rampage turned a Madden NFL 19 competition at the Jacksonville Landing, a popular riverfront gathering place in the city's core, into the latest public gathering suddenly shattered by gun violence.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office used Twitter and Facebook to warn people to stay away from the Jacksonville Landing. According to the sheriff's office, there are 13 victims total - 11 with gunshot wounds, two with other injuries and the dead suspect.
Florida authorities are reporting a multiple people dead and "many transported" to hospitals after a mass shooting at a riverfront mall in Jacksonville.
The Jacksonville Landing, in the heart of the city's downtown, hosts concerts and other entertainment, and it has a busy food court and a host of bars and restaurants.
At UF Health Hospital, one patient remains in good condition while another is in "serious condition and under observation", reports FOX 30.
"Complexity is not one of the event organizers in Jacksonville".
At least three patients were shot once, and three were shot a few times, UF Health said.
The event was a qualifying event for the Madden 19 Tournament live streamed on online platform Twitch.
Williams said the injured victims were in stable condition.

"Once I noticed the laser on his chest I knew what happened", Taylor said in a direct message sent through Twitter.
EA Sports, a video game developer and publisher, condemned the shooting as "a senseless act of violence". "Don't hesitate to secure your spot", the post read in part. Authorities said the suspect died at the scene.
"The first thing people are going to go to is this political fight", he said. "I'm still shocked, I can hardly talk".
Malik Brunson told CNN he was at a nearby Hooters when the shooting occurred.
Survivors of February's high school shooting in Parkland, Florida, expressed sorrow at news of another mass shooting in the state. "One of the men ran into Hooters with the shot wounds, they locked us in the restaurant", he said in a social media message. They said they saw David Katz when he was younger and in school but not so much as he got older.
Six shooting victims - described as males in their early to mid-20s - were treated at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Jacksonville, said Marie Crandall, the attending trauma surgeon.
In the wake of the February 14 Parkland school shooting that left 17 dead, gun violence has been a major issue ahead of Tuesday's primary election, in which voters will pick the Republican and Democratic nominees to replace outgoing Republican Gov. Rick Scott.
"The massacre in Jacksonville is a tragic reminder of the threats we face from gun violence, no matter who we are or where our day takes us", said Giffords.
"To have someone walk into an event like this that's all about good sportsmanship and teamwork and just good vibes, and do something like this, it's heartbreaking", he said. "The massacre in Jacksonville is yet another devastating indictment of this country's inability to keep our kids safe".
