The Cleveland Browns were among the teams that tried to pry 3-time Pro Bowler and 2-time All-Pro defensive end Khalil Mack from the Oakland Raiders this week, but the talks weren't successful. It is expected that Mack will be the highest-paid defensive player in National Football League history, just a day after Aaron Donald signed his record-breaking deal. According to NFL.com, the Bears have agreed to send two first-round picks plus some additional unspecified compensation.
After spending the entire offseason trying to get a deal done with Khalil Mack, it looks like the Raiders have officially given up.
Mack has averaged 12 sacks over his last three seasons with the Raiders. He made the aggressive move to jump up and grab QB Mitch Trubisky in the 2017 NFL Draft (one that included a package of draft picks that year) and he dealt a 2019 second-round pick to move up for Anthony Miller during this year's draft. Now it appears the Bears have found their man for the other spot opposite Floyd after one of the biggest trades in franchise history.
Champions League group stage draw
As always the draw will be complicated and convoluted, but UEFA has confirmed the four pots that will make up the group stage. An example of a weaker group could be: Lokomotiv, Porto, PSV and Club Brugge.
Make no mistake about it. Coach Jon Gruden will have his work cut out for him as the team's first regular season game approaches. As Raiders players wake up to the news that defensive end Khalil Mack will be traded to the Bears, they're not happy, either.
The team is desperate for more pass-rushing talent, and Mack would be the best possible upgrade.
"We weren't very good a year ago on defense with Khalil Mack", Gruden said on July 30, via Pro Football Talk.
