- The NYPD says five people, including three baby girls, were stabbed at an unlicensed, overnight day care center in Flushing, Queens by a woman who later tried to take her life.
The incident occurred at the daycare center in the borough of Queens at about 3:30 a.m. EDT, a spokesman for New York City Police Department said. Two girls and a boy of unknown ages were cut or slashed just before 4:00 AM local time Friday morning along with an adult male and female.
Four other children were removed from the nursery uninjured.

The man who was injured was stabbed in the leg and is the father to one of the children, although it wasn't clear whether his child was one of the infants stabbed. One of the infants suffered serious injuries. Her relationship with the children wasn't immediately clear.
Officials have not determined a motive, according to WNBC. Police said that a woman was taken into police custody but did not comment further.
