Shahbaz Sharif's vehicle returns from NAB Lahore's office.
Former Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif has been arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) at its Lahore office in the Rs14 billion Ashiana-i-Iqbal Housing Scheme case. Shahbaz's son and opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz, who was also probed for presiding over the company's board of directors meetings many times to issue directions for award of contracts to favourite firms, said if this political victimisation continued, the PML-N would be on roads to fight this war. The PML-N Parliamentary Party said Shahbaz's arrest was made without seeking permission from the NA speaker. "This arrest which took place close to the by-elections shows that the government is scared of the PML-N".
Riyad Mahrez blazes over late penalty as Man City's Anfield hoodoo remains
Manchester City forward Riyad Mahrez insists he will not let his shocking penalty miss against Liverpool affect his confidence. You always say champions win or pick points up when they're not playing well, Liverpool aren't at their best at the moment.
On his father's arrest Hamza Shehbaz said, "It's a joke that a man (Shehbaz Sharif) who saved this country's billions of rupees in various projects has been arrested".
Khursheed Shah, the leader of Pakistan Peoples Party, condemned the arrest, saying it was an "insult of the Pakistan's parliament", and accusing the Khan government of "taking revenge from the Sharif family whereas, Khan has failed in its initial months of the government".
Salman Shehbaz and key members of the Sharif family were also present during the meeting.
Asked what would precisely be the target of the PML-N strategy, Pervaiz Rashid said: "To restrain the government from its vindictive policies and garner public support for the party".
"Joint opposition will be protesting against Shehbaz's arrest soon", he added.
